Answer
Fares for Strangford Ferry have been unaltered since November 2009. Due to budgetary pressures all Departments were asked to reduce costs or increase revenue where possible, by the Secretary of State.
Following the guidance contained in MPMNI published by DoF and the legislation within The Roads (Northern Ireland) Order 1993 my officials carried out a review of fares and cost recovery. The decision was made in accordance with the Northern Ireland (Executive Formation etc) Act 2022 on 26 January 2024 that all fares would increase by 33.41%.
The full price single fare is now £1.30 for a passenger and £7.70 for a car and driver.
