AQW 9160/22-27 Written question to the Minister for Infrastructure

To ask the Minister for Infrastructure whether he has any plans to (i) review and identify financing to convert both ferries operating on Strangford Lough to electric; and (ii) work with Queens University, who have harnessed tidal energy in Strangford Lough, to potentially power the ferries.

I am committed to taking steps to reduce carbon emissions in line with the Climate Change Act (Northern Ireland) 2022. My Department will be looking into options to potentially decarbonise the ferries, these will be subject to consideration and budget availability.
