Answer

Under the Common Funding Scheme, Voluntary Grammar and Grant Maintained Integrated schools receive funding to reflect the additional responsibilities and associated costs of administrative functions carried out by these schools, which in the case of Controlled and Maintained schools are provided centrally by the Education Authority. This includes costs associated with audit, legal and insurance.

Grant Maintained Integrated schools are therefore responsible for securing their own insurance arrangements and are funded on a per pupil basis to reflect equivalent Education Authority expenditure for Controlled and Maintained schools on these functions.

Arrangements are therefore already in place to ensure that Grant Maintained Integrated schools are funded for insurance provision and are not disadvantaged in accordance with section 9(2)(c) of the Integrated Education Act (Northern Ireland) 2022.
