Answer
I agreed in principle in August 2026 to proposals for a Homelessness Commission. These proposals evolved from work that commenced following publication of the Public Accounts Committee Report in February 2026 to consider options for the scope, structure, resourcing and governance arrangements for a review of homelessness legislation, reflecting the need for wider system change to support legislative reform.
As part of this preparatory work, my officials have engaged with a range of organisations and experts to inform this work. Dates of these meetings were:
26 March 2026
4 June 2026,
6, 7, 8 and 28 July 2026,
10, 14, 20, and 24 August 2026
1 and 8 September 2026
As the scope and arrangements for the Commission have not yet been finalised, I have not yet decided a date for publication of any report or outcomes.
