AQW 21331/17-22 Written question to the Minister of Education
To ask the Minister of Education, following the Education Authority statement on 2 July 2021 confirming the former Castle Gardens Primary school site in Newtownards is being used without its consent, (i) to confirm whether her Department has given permission for this site to be used for a bonfire; and (ii) what actions she will take to ensure all departmental land or land owned by an education body funded by her Department is appropriately managed to prevent trespass and protect public safety.

Neither DE nor EA gave permission for this bonfire.
EA and DE continue to work together to establish actions that can be taken to prevent unauthorised use of EA land for bonfires.
