Answer

Policy development for a Charities Bill is currently in progress. This work includes legislative amendments to address known flaws in relation to the operation of section 167 of the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008.

It is anticipated that the Bill will be presented to the Assembly in the current mandate, followed by regulations to clarify financial and reporting obligations for section 167 charities and potentially remove barriers to local funding.
