Answer
The regulation of Financial Services including insurance services is a reserved matter. Complainants who contact my Department’s Trading Standards Service Consumerline about car insurance are advised to contact their insurer directly to try to resolve the issue. If they are dissatisfied with the response, then they should escalate the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). The FOS is a free, independent service that resolves disputes between consumers and financial services firms.
